Short specification about Compaq CQ40-101TU: 2.0 Ghz of AMD P7350,1GB of memory RAM that can be upgraded to 4GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB of hard drive, DVD-RW, Wireless 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth and 14.1″ widescreen LCD with brightview technology.

As far as I know you’ll need to slipstream the SATA driver into the XP boot disk through nLite or something similar… Otherwise you’ll probably get BSOD when trying to install XP because the computer won’t be able to properly access the disks

Download the SATA driver for your particular chipset. Then download nlite (just google it). Install it and follow the directions to slipstream the driver into your installation disc. You can also add SP3 and all the drivers you need to it.

Compaq Presario CQ40-108TU was launched by HP-Compaq some times in October, 2008. We have received many enquiries regarding installation Windows XP in this machine. Installing Windows XP was not possible at all. There are quite a lot of people who are facing problems with installing Windows XP in this laptop. Here is a solution provided by the manufacturer to rectify this issue. There is no guarantee that this will work perfectly. We have not tried these steps yet. If you are trying to, it is purely at your own risk.

Step 1:-- Enabling Audio:
You need to flash the BIOS to F.11C as given below :
**Copy the all the files from BIOS folder to a DOS bootable Thumb drive
**Boot the notebook via dos bootable thumb drive (press F9 to select Flash drive boot)
**At the DOS command prompt , i.e, C:\ type Flash.bat and shutdown the notebook after completing the BIOS flashing. (this may take 25 to 30 seconds)

Step 2:-- Installing O.S :

Suggested : WinXP SP3 Bootable Disc with ACHI driver ready O.S image (can be done using nlite)
Note :-- u needn't have any Floppy drive under this process

Step 3:-- Installing Drivers : (Install from the Drivers DVD - already given)

The above 3steps completes the Entire Installation process.
